ISRO is preparing for the first uncrewed orbital test flight of the Gaganyaan crew capsule, a critical milestone on the path to India’s first crewed spaceflight. The mission will carry a humanoid robot named Vyommitra, designed to test systems and gather data in microgravity conditions ahead of a future human mission.
The uncrewed test is expected to be followed by additional flight tests, including in-flight abort demonstrations, before ISRO proceeds to a crewed Gaganyaan mission, which remains on track for later in the decade.
